Press release on the results of the board meeting of the Ministry of Energy
December 13, 2016, a regular meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of the state inspector of the Department of state control and organizational-territorial operation of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On the agenda of the board meeting the following issues were discussed:
1. On completion of the conversion of the research reactor VVR-K for fuel with low-enriched uranium and the future prospects of development, in which the representative of the Republican State Enterprise "Institute of Nuclear Physics."
The reactor was commissioned in 1967 and used for the production of radioisotopes, radiation testing of materials and components, neutron activation analysis and research. As a result of work on the conversion of the VVR-K doubled the neutron flux density, updated control and protection systems, radiation monitoring, emergency cooling, uninterruptible power supply, and ensure fuel supply for 15 years.

2. Implementation of the project "Construction of the integrated gas chemical complex in Atyrau region - first and second phase" for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in the territory of the special economic zone "National Industrial Petrochemical Technology Park", which was made by the representative of the Limited Liability Partnership "United Chemical Company".
The construction of an integrated gas chemical complex is planned for the 1st quarter of 2017, entering into operation is scheduled for the 3rd quarter of 2020. Implementation of this project will provide annual production of polypropylene in the amount of 500 thousand tons of polyethylene in the amount of 800 thousand tons.

3. The preliminary results of the activities of the Ministry in key areas, including the achievement and implementation of strategic goals and objectives were announced, the use of budgetary funds, the provision of public services, complaints and petitions of citizens, the degree of openness of the Ministry, personnel management, use of information technology executive discipline, execution of acts and orders of the Head of state, legal support. Given instructions to strengthen the work in these areas.
