The 7th meeting of experts on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the sphere of energy between Kazakhstan and the European Union was held In Astana.
On July 25, 2017 the 7th meeting of experts on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the sphere of energy between Kazakhstan and the European Union was held In Astana.
The Kazakhstan delegation was headed by Vice-Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliev, the European one by the Deputy Director General for Energy of the European Commission Gerassimos Thomas.
During the meeting the sides discussed the changes in the international power markets and compared notes on Kazakhstan and EU policies, improving the regulatory and legal framework and investment climate, energy and transport infrastructures and stable energy.
The Kazakhstan side expressed gratitude for the support and participation of the European Union in the international exhibition "Expo-2017", including the holding of the Days of Europe within the exhibition.
Both sides noted that the meeting of experts is the effective dialogue platform for discussing approaches and further implementation of strategically important spheres of energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU.
The EU is one of the key partners of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the sphere of energy. Today, the trade with EU countries is almost a half of Kazakhstan's total trade turnover. The European companies have played an important role in that the energy sector has become one of the main sources of economic growth of Kazakhstan.
